Running groups is an ASCA expectation for a strong School Counseling program but middle school is a different “vibe.”  In this presentation, we will discuss the how, when, and whats of small groups in the middle school space by two middle school counselors.

  • Identify how groups typically function
  • Identify an implementation strategy that will work for your school
  • Identify where you can get resources
  • Identify one group you would like to implement
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
     

Jennifer Soto is a professional school counselor who works with 6th - 8th grade students at one of Indianapolis Public Schools’ public middle schools.  She earned her master’s degree in School Counseling through Indiana State University.  Prior to becoming a School Counselor, Jennifer used to work as an academic advisor at different universities including Purdue University and University of Indianapolis.

When not at school, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.


       

Rachel Hunsburger is a professional school counselor who currently works with 6-8 grade students at Indianapolis Public Schools. Before moving to the midwest, Rachel lived in Northeast Georgia where she  earned her Master’s of Education in School Counseling degree from Valdosta State University. 

Outside of her professional endeavors, Rachel loves to travel and enjoys exploring large cities. In her downtime, she loves to craft and is an avid knitter.
